Black JadeA low, thick mist hung in the early morning light over the barren swamp. The expanse looked like a dirty polka-dotted blanket with its brown mounds of mud surrounded by still, dark water. A large gray bird stood on one of the many dead logs that protruded from the water. Some unseen crickets chirped in the distance, as a small, moss covered turtle lazily watched two men standing on a small mound of mud. The man on the right wore a dark cloak full of holes.
